On Tuesday, November 28, 2023, Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Property Crimes Detective Jason Williams arrested Micheal Dale Campfield (W/M, DOB: 11/15/1989) for Burglary of a Dwelling, Grand Theft, Criminal Mischief, Dealing in Stolen Property, Possession of Burglary Tools, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Attaching an Unassigned License Plate. Through further investigation, he was tied to an additional 23 felony offenses and 1 misdemeanor.

Throughout November 2023, MCSO deputies and Property Crimes detectives responded to several reports of burglaries in the Marion Oaks District. On November 21, 2023, deputies responded to another report of a burglary at a home under construction in the 6300 block of SW 153rd Lane Road. Deputies discovered that a dishwasher and range had been stolen and that the floor of the home was damaged when the appliances were dragged from the home. Video surveillance at the site captured images of a potential suspect and his vehicle.

On November 28, 2023, multiple Property Crimes detectives conducted a surveillance operation in the areas where the burglaries had occurred. During the first 15 minutes of the operation, Detective James Burgess located the vehicle captured in the surveillance footage at the intersection of SW 60th Circle and Marion Oaks Manor. He conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Michael Campfield. Detective Burgess determined that Campfield matched the description of the suspect they were attempting to locate. Detective Williams responded to the location of the traffic stop to speak with Campfield. Campfield was shown photos from the surveillance footage and he admitted that he was the individual depicted.

Through further investigation and his interview with Campfield, Detective Williams learned that Campfield committed 11 separate burglaries in November, during which he stole several Frigidaire and Whirlpool ranges, which he later sold for $250 or $300 to an unidentified man. During a search of Campfield’s person and vehicle, deputies located a tire iron used during the commission of the burglaries, cocaine, a firearm, and drug paraphernalia in Campfield’s possession.

Campfield was placed under arrest and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he remains. While in custody, Campfield was additionally charged with two counts of Armed Burglary, six counts of Burglary, eight counts of Grand Theft, seven counts of Dealing in Stolen Property, and one count of Criminal Mischief, bringing the total number of charges he is facing to 31 felony offenses and 2 misdemeanors.
