See Who “Blew” it This Past Weekend

Here are the DUI Drivers MCSO arrested on in just one day this weekend. These eight people decided to get behind the wheel while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Fortunately, we were able to get them off our streets before they hurt themselves or others!

A traffic stop was conducted on a red Honda Accord in the 8000 block of S Highway 441 for swerving back and forth between lanes and almost striking Master Sgt. Moore’s patrol vehicle. The driver, Shelli Beard, showed several signs of intoxication and Field Sobriety Exercises were conducted. She was placed under arrest and taken to the Marion County Jail, where it was determined she was under the influence of drugs.

Deputy Burgess conducted a traffic stop on a black Ford F150 in the 1400 block of Silver Springs Boulevard after seeing it drive over a curb and make an improper turn. He made contact with the driver, Michael Bibb, who had slurred speech while apologizing for running over the curb. Bibb advised he probably had a “little bit much” to drink and agreed to perform Field Sobriety Exercises. He was arrested for DUI and taken to the jail, where he provided a breath sample of .231.

Master Sgt. Moore responded to Fort King Street and Osceola Avenue to assist OPD with a possible DUI. He was advised that a truck was stopped for driving over the parking lot curbs and onto the sidewalk. The driver, Kevin Cretul, was showing multiple signs of impairment. After the DUI investigation was complete, Cretul was arrested for DUI and provided a breath sample of .281. He has an active warrant out of Volusia County for violation of probation related to reckless driving and is still on DUI probation in Volusia.

Deputies McQuaig and Elliot observed a man passed out behind the wheel of a white Ford in the parking lot of the Shell Gas Station in the 7000 block of NE Jacksonville Road. Upon approaching the vehicle, they noticed that Joseph Jay had struck a cinderblock and dragged it under his vehicle through the parking lot causing damage to the roadway. He was woken up and refused to perform Field Sobriety Exercises. Due to other indicators of impairment, Deputy Galler attempted to place Jay under arrest, but he began to physically resist. He was ultimately taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he refused to provide a breath sample.

A traffic stop was conducted on a gray Jeep Wrangler at 490 Water Road after reports of the driver, Jennifer Jones, driving erratically and stopping in the middle of the road. Upon contact, Jones appeared to be highly intoxicated and had trouble maintaining her balance. She refused to perform Field Sobriety Exercises, so she was arrested for DUI. Once transported to the jail, she also refused to provide a breath sample.

Master Sgt. Moore pulled over a black Mitsubishi in the 1200 block of Silver Springs Boulevard for not having visible tail lights. When he made contact with the driver, Mitchell Long, Master Sgt. Moore noticed several signs that Long was under the influence of a stimulant drug. Long agreed to perform Field Sobriety Exercises, but was unable to do so properly. He was placed under arrest for DUI and it was determined he was under the influence of drugs. A search of his vehicle revealed Long was in possession of Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

A traffic stop was conducted on a black Nissan Sentra in the 10000 block of N Highway 441 for swerving in and out of its lane. Deputy Galler had to instruct the driver, Melissa Mahon, to move the vehicle from the middle of the roadway during the stop. Mahon appeared to be under the influence of drugs and agreed to Field Sobriety Exercises. At the conclusion of the investigation, Mahon was arrested for DUI, Driving without a Valid License and taken to the Marion County Jail.

Deputy Young conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after seeing it swerve out of its lane multiple times. He made contact with the driver, Joslyn Simms, who appeared to be intoxicated and had a suspended license for DUI related offences. A DUI investigation was conducted, after which Simms was placed under arrest. At the jail, Simms refused to provide a breath sample.
